Glass fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is also called GFRP, which is fiber reinforced plastic. It generally refers to reinforced plastics that use glass fiber to reinforce unsaturated polyester, epoxy resin and phenolic resin matrix, and use glass fiber or its products as reinforcement materials. It is called glass fiber reinforced plastic, or glass fiber reinforced plastic, which is different from tempered glass.
Due to the different types of resins used, there are polyester glass fiber reinforced plastics, epoxy glass fiber reinforced plastics, and phenolic glass fiber reinforced plastics. It is light and hard, non-conductive, stable in performance, high in mechanical strength, less recycled, and corrosion-resistant. It can replace steel to manufacture machine parts and automobile and ship shells.
The scientific name of glass fiber reinforced plastics is fiber reinforced plastics, commonly known as FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics), that is, fiber reinforced composite plastics. According to the different fibers used, it can be divided into glass fiber reinforced composite plastics (GFRP), carbon fiber reinforced composite plastics (CFRP), boron fiber reinforced composite plastics, etc. It is a composite material with glass fiber and its products (glass cloth, tape, felt, yarn, etc.) as reinforcement materials and synthetic resin as matrix material. Fiber reinforced composite materials are composed of reinforcing fibers and matrix. The diameter of the fiber (or whisker) is very small, generally less than 10μm, with fewer and smaller defects, and a fracture strain of about 30/1000. It is a brittle material that is easily damaged, broken and corroded. The matrix has much lower strength and modulus than the fiber, but can withstand large strains, often has viscoelasticity and elastoplasticity, and is a tough material.
